Ruth A. Bryant, RN, MS, CWOCN
Ms. Bryant received her WOC Nursing Education at Barnes Jewish Hospital at
Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri in 1979. She has maintained Board
Certification in WOC Nursing since the inception of certification in 1980. Ms.
Bryant received her MS in nursing from the University of Minnesota School of
Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota and her bachelor's degree in nursing from
Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota.
She has been an active leader and author in the nursing specialty of Wound,
Ostomy Continence for the past 20 years. She served two terms as the President
of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurses Society (WOCN), served on the
Certification Board of the WOCN, and was a member of the National Conference
Planning Committee for 10 years. She has published extensively in peer reviewed
journals and textbooks. Most notable are two textbooks she edited which are
utilized in the education of WOC nurses in the United States: Acute and Chronic
Wounds: Management Concepts (3rd edition, 2006) and Ostomies and
Continent Diversions: Nursing Management (co-editor). She is currently
a reviewer for Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing. Ms.
Bryant has a strong clinical and educational experience and was the Director of
the Abbott Northwestern ET Nursing Education Program in Minneapolis, MN from
1988-1991. During her tenure at Abbott, she developed the clinical
preceptorship model, which is in use in most WOC nursing education programs in
the United States. Ruth has lectured extensively nationally and
internationally. She is a member of the Wound Healing Society (WHS) and was
instrumental in spearheading a joint effort by the WOCN and WHS to develop
provisional guidelines for the care of chronic wounds.
Ms. Bryant’s current areas of responsibility and interest encompass program
design and development in the webWOC Nursing Education Program, clinical
research and design, publication, and litigation consultation.

Bonnie Sue Rolstad, RN, MS, CWOCN
Ms. Rolstad
received her WOC Nursing Education at the Cleveland Clinic in 1971. She
completed a B.A. degree from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul,
Minnesota in 1987 with focused study in nursing and small business management.
In 2004, she completed a graduate level certificate in Instructional Design for
Online Learning from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. In 2006, Ms.
Rolstad completed her M.S. in Education with a specialty focus in Distance
Education at Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.
In the Specialty of WOC Nursing, Ms. Rolstad has maintained Board Certification
status since the inception of certification in 1980. Ms. Rolstad has been an
active leader and author in the nursing specialty of Wound, Ostomy, Continence
for the past 30 years. She served on the Board of the WOCN/IAET in an elected
position for 9 years, during which she served a term as Secretary of the WOCN.
She has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and textbooks. She has
been an author or co-author of numerous textbook chapters, most notable are: a
"Principles of Wound Management" (chapter) and "Management of Drain Sites and
Fistulas" (chapter) in Acute and Chronic Wounds (3rd edition, 2006);
"Management of Intestinal Fistulas" in MacKeigan's Intestinal Stomas (1993, 2nd
edition, 2002); "Management of the Recalcitrant and Deteriorating Wound",
Chronic Wound Care (2001); "Intestinal Stomas" in Gordon and Nivatvongs
Principles and Practice of Surgery for the Colon, Rectum and Anus (1999) and
"Continent Diversions and Reservoirs" in Ostomies and Continent Diversions
(1992). She has authored 4 editions (most current, 2005) of the teaching
resource book: "Ileoanal Reservoir: Nursing Management", distributed by the
American Society for Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Ms. Rolstad is also a member of
the Editorial Board for Ostomy/Wound Management. She was a founding Co-Director
of the Abbott Northwestern ET Nursing Education Program in Minneapolis, MN from
1979-81.
Ms. Rolstad’s
current areas of responsibility and interests encompass the administrative and
business leadership focus of the webWOC Nursing Education Program and
Instructional Design. She is also a faculty member and curriculum designer.
