OST571: High Output

PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY:

 

The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to understand
the common causes, implications, and management of the high output stoma.
Nutritional and pharmacologic interventions and pouching considerations will
be discussed.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

Healthcare
professionals caring for individuals with high output stomas need to be able
to provide appropriate care to prevent complications and rehospitalization.
Understanding the causes, implications, and interventions to appropriately
manage the high output stoma will improve patient outcomes and prevent
complications. This presentation will focus on the
common causes, implications, and management of high output stomas.
