WND580: Wound Care Nurse Specialist Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course focuses on the care of clients across the lifespan who are at risk for skin breakdown, have impaired skin integrity, or have an existing wound. Learners will gain knowledge of wound and skin complication etiology, differential diagnoses, clinical findings, and evidence-based management options. Emphasis is placed on performing a comprehensive physical assessment and health history, incorporating diagnostic data, documenting assessments and evaluations, and identifying the need for referrals to support optimal client outcomes.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: 

·         Nurses with a bachelor’s degree or higher

·         Acceptance into the WEB WOC® Nursing Education Program

PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY:

This course prepares learners to provide evidence-based, patient-centered wound care for clients across the lifespan who are at risk for skin breakdown, have impaired skin integrity, or experience common wound complications. Learners develop the knowledge and clinical reasoning needed to assess wounds, identify etiologies and differential diagnoses, plan appropriate interventions, and support preparation for specialty nursing certification.
