COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Skin tears are prevalent and found in all healthcare settings. Skin tears are often mis-managed based on practice myths. Skin tears are not routinely classified using a validated tool, and topical management is not evidence based. This presentation will focus on dispelling common myths and providing the evidence for practice change.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY:

WND285: You Asked For It! Skin Tear Myths in Practice- Is your practice up to date? Enduring activity which is provider-directed, learner-paced and consists of handouts and quiz questions.

PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY:

The focus will be on dispelling the myths of skin tear management and the evidence for this practice change. Case studies will be used to apply the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel (ISTAP) validated skin tear classification system and evidence-based treatment approaches.
