COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This presentation focuses on understanding the practice implications of deep tissue pressure injury (DTPI) and identifying skin/wound lesions that mimic DTPI is essential for healthcare care professionals caring for individuals with acute and chronic wounds. Understanding these concepts will assist with accurate wound etiology identification and in turn improved management.

WND561: Deep Tissue Pressure Injury

PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY:

The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to:  improve the identification of DTPI’s through differentiating their presentation as compared to other “purple-colored” lesions that they can mimic. Understanding the regulatory and fiscal implications for DTPI’s in practice is also essential.
