The concept of peristomal skin health is rather new in practice and clinicians may not be aware of it and the factors affecting peristomal skin integrity. Factors impacting peristomal skin health and strategies for preventing peristomal skin complications will be presented. |

| PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY: |
Maintaining peristomal skin health is a priority for the ostomy care nurse/provider to learn more about to decrease the incidence of peristomal skin complications and improve the quality of life for those individuals with ostomies. Factors impacting peristomal skin health and strategies for preventing peristomal skin complications will be presented. |
