Big News for Skin and Wound Care Teams: WTA-C® Is Now Magnet-Accepted

The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB®) recently announced that the Wound Treatment Associate-Certified® (WTA-C®) credential has earned National Commission for Certifying Agencies accreditation and is now accepted by the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®. This important milestone gives healthcare organizations another meaningful way to support nursing excellence and recognize wound care knowledge at the bedside.

WEB WOC® Programs’ Skin and Wound Care Associate (SWA®) course is one of only two educational programs identified by WOCNCB as a pathway for eligible LPN/LVNs and RNs to qualify for the WTA-C examination. The online, evidence-based course prepares non-specialty nurses to strengthen prevention, assessment, basic wound management, documentation, and patient and staff education while practicing within their licensure and under appropriate clinical direction.

For healthcare facilities, this is an opportunity to build a Skin Care Champion team on every unit. WOC nurse specialists cannot be everywhere at all times, but well-prepared frontline nurses can help identify risks early, reinforce evidence-based practices, promote consistent care, and extend the reach of the wound care team.

Partner with WEB WOC® Programs to develop a sustainable network of Skin Care Champions who support safer care, stronger teamwork, and better outcomes across your organization.
